Projected Bus Network

The restructuring study of a public transport network aims to improve the quality and efficiency of the public transport system to meet the growing needs of passengers, while considering demographic, economic, and environmental changes. The methodology is divided into several well-defined missions that ensure the implementation of a comprehensive and effective approach.
With this in mind, GAMDU launched a restructuring study in 2020 with the goal of evaluating the current network and restructuring it by incorporating a new mode, the Bus Rapid Transit (BHNS), which would be the first step toward special infrastructure to promote commercial speed and contribute to improving the public transport offering in Grand Agadir.
This study was conducted in four missions. The firm responsible for the study analyzed the current bus transport system to assess the structure of the network, its operation, performance, and alignment with passenger needs, focusing on traffic-generating hubs and giving particular attention to the mobility situation and challenges faced by women.
The first mission involved establishing a diagnosis with a detailed description to understand the current situation through the analysis of data collected during meetings with various stakeholders. The second mission focused on analyzing the data collected during field surveys. The third mission included the proposal of different scenarios with a multi-criteria analysis to select the most appropriate scenario. Finally, the fourth mission presented the final design of the network according to the chosen scenario, with a detailed quantification of the transport offer required to create an efficient network, including the specific characteristics of the lines.
The restructured network will have the quality of a network with a hierarchy of lines and an increase in the total distance covered to meet the needs of the citizens of Grand Agadir.
The future network will initially consist of forty-one (41) conventional lines and one BHNS line. Ultimately, the network will also include a second and third BHNS line, which will complete the coverage of the Grand Agadir’s Transport en Commun en Site Propre (TCSP) network.
